Group Account Director (#243-MH216)

About this job

The Group Account Director (GAD) oversees a group of agency accounts (traditional AOR and digital AOR) and directs a high-performing team of client service professionals dedicated to achieving client objectives. The GAD is an exceptional leader internally and a trusted advisor and partner to our clients. He/she maintains client respect and confidence offering an open ear, sound judgment, and a range of relevant approaches to various marketing challenges and opportunities. He/she acts as a leadership voice on assigned accounts, demonstrating authority, strategic vision, and sound decision-making. Ultimately, the GAD is responsible for maximizing agency resources and expertise on the client’s behalf while delivering profit and long-term growth for the agency.

Reports to: Vice President of Client Service




Duties

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively balance the dual expectations and business goals of the client and agency, as well as the expectations of multiple clients and agency teams
  • Anticipate and address client needs
  • Build relationships at the senior level and develop a strategic framework that maximizes agency talent to the benefit of clients and the company
  • Maintain knowledge of client business and be conversant in key issues, competitive situation, industry trends and the projects assigned to the agency and other communication partners
  • Effectively assign, delegate and monitor the work of staff assigned to accounts in the group
  • Provide a model of project/team leadership
  • Create a working environment that encourages and supports a positive mindset about the work as well as the client and agency staff involved
  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to lead positive, spirited debate of ideas and POVs in order to push the team and agency to deliver a continuously improving product, strategically and creatively
  • Be an inspiring communicator
  • Cultivate clear, comfortable and persuasive communication
  • Inspire and mentor
  • Evaluate and actively work to grow and develop skills among the account staff
  • Positively impact agency revenue via client revenue, organic growth, profitability, staff retention and new business activity
  • Establish annual revenue goals, track progress, and proactively identify new opportunities
  • Manage overall P&L for the account group
  • Work with senior management to plan and forecast

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • 12+ years account management experience in an agency environment or equivalent client-side marketing experience
  • 4 years (ideal) experience in interactive marketing
  • Excellent understanding of traditional and digital marketing
  • Consumer Goods experience preferred but not required
  • Highly proficient in use of Microsoft office suite
